This year we are kicking off with a season of #FirstWorldWhiteGirls: Botox Party! at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The production was written and composed by Judy Hainsworth, who was our MC in Women in Voice 2016. In the last half of 2017, the show toured across Queensland to regional centres such as Cairns, Townsville and Mackay, as well as more remote centres including St George, Miles and Goondiwindi.
And just a reminder that you can still get copies of ‘Finding Our Voice: The Story of Women in Voice’ by clicking on this link.
After a hugely successful twenty-fifth anniversary Women in Voice at the Brisbane Powerhouse followed by performances to enthusiastic audiences at Logan Entertainment Centre and Boonah Cultural Centre, we are now already working on Women in Voice 2018, but more of that later.
Thanks for all your lovely feedback and ongoing support and we would once again like to thank Arts Queensland for their support, especially in giving us the opportunity to introduce the WIV mentorship which we will be looking to continue into the future.
We finished up 2017 by presenting WIV favourite Queenie van de Zandt’s alter ego Jan van de Stool at Woodford Folk Festival with her new show ‘Parting the Red Curtain’. Naturally it was a hit with the Woodford audiences, especially with Jan’s special guests Darren Percival and Lior and we are sure that the show will be a hit wherever it goes in future
